Welcome to RuralTeachers.com

Thanks to the extraordinary commitment of the Rix Family Foundation to the preparation and ongoing education of teachers in British Columbia, I am proud to be the first Eleanor Rix Professor of Teacher Education at UBC. My goals are to help prepare, recruit and support K-12 teachers for rural, Northern and remote school communities in the province. Along with practicing teachers, teacher educators, rural administrators, graduate students, and teacher candidates I am hoping to shine a light on rural teaching.

This website is part of our work. It has been designed to connect rural educators across school districts through conversations, research, and examples of innovative classroom and school projects. It will also feature resources, school profiles, and news of upcoming conferences, courses and workshops, as well as link to associations and organizations that support rural education. We hope to display samples of student work as well, like the wonderful paintings of rural life you see here that came from elementary students in Winlaw, B.C.

Thank you for for visiting.

With very best wishes,

Linda Farr Darling
